Floyd, Smith Carolina^ deservedly popular Adjutant and Inspector-General, had a narrow escape from a very serious accident Thursday. He was a passenger oe the southhound 80' tberu train that morn ing, baring spent several days in Wushmgtoa. A few minutes he foie reaching Rock Hill, he in quired of the conductor if his train would maks connection with that on the S. C. & G. Ex. road at this place, as he heped to he able to go from Rock Ilill to Heath Springs, to as to reach hit home in the country that day. The conductor assured him that the S. C. & G. Ex. train had already left Rock Hill, not knowing of the recent change of schedule. General Fleyd kept hie seat contentedly, intending under the circumstances to go te his home id coiumoia instead, ?>ut when th? train stopped at Kock Hill the conductor learned of the a hedulc on the 8. C. & G. Ex. and notified General Floyd, and that, although tke train had begun to | more, he could leave the coach with safety./ Acting on this ad ice, General Floyd neat out upon the platform and walked down the steps, but stepped in an opposite direction from that in irhicb the train was running.
