Anderson is setting an example to cthei cities in showing the way to tight the fertilizer trust is to fight it. There has just been organized a new fertilizer manufacturing concern of colossal proportions, with home capital almost entirely. The name of the new enterprise is "The Anderson Phosphate and Oil company," and the oreanization of the concern is complete. It is said that there is some Richmond capital in the venture, hut it is practically owned and will he run by the most solid and farseeing business men of Anderson. The capital stork of the company will he $000,000 with the prml ege of increasing to $800,000, and its* organization is for the sole purpose of the manufacture and fiftle of commercial fertilizers and cotton seed products. The company acquires the ewnership and will take immediate possesion of (he Andersen Fertilizer company, and of eight or ten cotton seed oil mills in this section. Frederick (jr. Brown, president of the old 'ertilizer company, is to he at the head of the new corporation. This ia a superb location for euch an enterprise, being the heart of a splendid agricultural section, nnd the old concern has paid handsomely. The eld plant and the force employed will be doubled immediately, and the output largely increased. All the business of the new cencern will be managed from Andersoo. The organization has been managed very quietly, and it was only yesterday th"t the necessary papers were ferwarded to the secretary of state and the lirst steps taken toward securing a charter. As a result three copvicts hare been killed, aaothar w undad and tire canto ran unhurt. Tho casualties teok place in a tight near Norton villa, Kas., and resulted in the death or capture of live men. The dead: .Jam** Hoffman, aged 20, whits; J. J. Poffenlnden, aged 25, whits, a soldier convict: John Green, aged 21, whit#. The foarth, Willard Drake, white, aged 19, is wounded and recaptured, and the fifth, Fred Gore, aged 1G, a negro, is recaptured unnurt. The five men were discovered in the barn of Fay Weishaar, near Nortonville, K.as., about 3 o'clock this afternoon. Weishaar went into the barn and was ordered out at the point of guns. He rushed to Nortonville and gathered a posse of n.en, who with revolvers, shotguns and a few Winchesters, hastened to the scene. The convicts haw the men coming and rushed from the barn. They had two shotguns and revolvers. The poese pursued them and a running fight resulted.
