week, between the Superintendent
and a gentleman who applieu for
a position as Carder.
"Where did you come from ?"
"From St John's Mill, in Quebec."

over $20,000 was found in
a remote precinct of Madison
county by Frank Jaccs, a poor
farmer. Tho gold was bidden away
in a spring which has not besn
used for many year*. It is believed
the gold was hidden during
the civil war.
Jacks is a changed man since
finding the gold and has shown
the treasure to only his intimate
friends.
