Rev. R. J. Blackmon has just1
closed big revival meeting* at
Fork Ilill and Pleusant Plain
churches. On Sunday he baptised
twelve candidates for mem- !
bership at Fork Ilill, and Monday
morning twenty-one at Pleasant !

interest manifested in religious
work in these churches in years.
The Spirit is with the preacher
and the people.
Mr. \T. D. Chambers met with
a painful accident while at work
oil one of the factory cottages

was climbing with a bundle of
shingles fell from the giving away
of a scaffold on which it rested
and Mr. C., was precipitated to
the ground a distance of twelve
or fifteen feet, the bundle of shingles
falling 011 his breast I>r.
Poovey was summoned and attended
him. It will be a day or
wo before it can be known whether
Mr. C., has suffered any serious
internal injuries or not.
The officers elect of the dr. O.

only here, but throughout this
country. It has very enthusiastic
members wherever it has been
established. May it live long
and continue to flourish The

Tin- Cotton Mill Flooded
The heavy rain last Monday
night raised the branch that flows
just, South of the cotton mill so
high that the water ran over the
embankment of the narrow Gauge
! side track, causing it to give way
and u large gap to wash through
it. The lower railroad embankment,
being older, did not give
way but held the water back cauaintr
it to flood the lwiilor mimm
engine room and the entire first
floor of tlie cotton mill. The
water stood eight feet high on the
boilers, putting out the fire, of
course,and bringing all the ma:
chinory to a standstill. In the
engine room the water melted the
cement that held the belts together,
and the water stood to within
a few inches of the cloth on al
i
the looms on the first Hoor of the
mill. The reservoir was filled
with dirt from the embankment
which gave way. It was thought
they would resume work jesterday
afternoon.
