he was esteemed by all
who knew him, and enjoyed the i
confidence of every one. He was
a man of his word, and his word
was his bond; a man too of independence
of thought. Mr. Steele
was slow in promising an opinion
but once formed he never wavereo.
He was a man of good sense and
judgment in all things and a man
of undoubted courage. He entered

Here's Something of Interest to
Every Person In Lancaster
Count}*.
When 13. C. Ilough & Co. en- <
tered the school book business, j
books at once took a tumble in j
price of from 20 to 30 per cent. (
Later, when they entered the ,
Cgftin business, the same thing
happened; and still later the (>un ,
business, and every one knows
that 13. C. Hough & Co. sell more
guns than every other gun concern
in Lancaster put together. Now ,
they are in the Furniture Business,
and the same thing will (
happen again, for you know when
13. C. Hough Co. enter any
line, the people who are in that
business must put down prices or
get out. W by is this true; why i
can 13. C. Ilough & Co. sell goods
choanal* than ntlun
r- l'wr,v 4 Ar,"?
Because they buy for cash and in I
large quantities. 2nd. Because ^
they do most of their own work .
and have no big salaries to pay.
3rd. Because they knew how and t
what to buy and are always ready {
with the spot cash to take advantage
of all special bargains. 4th. I
They are satisfied with a small
profit?willing to live and let live. (
"Small profits" are the words
that worry competition, for small ,
profits and big expenses cannot ?
go together. We have the situa- i
tion in hand, and we can and we 1
will sell you for cash or on credit
with satisfactory paper, Furniture
cheaper than any one else. Others
may sell close, but we will sell
closer still. .This is merely the
announcement of our entry in the
Furniture line. Later, we will
quoto you startling low prices on,
Chairs, Tables, Beds, Cots, Mat- ^
tresses, Springs, Lounges, Suits, 1
Chatfoniers, Wardrobes; Dressers,
Kitchen Safes, Umbrella Stands,
Uatracks, etc., and so on.
We are too busy at present getting
in shape the three car loads
of furniture received last week,
to say more.
