Death of 8. D. Meltwuin. Mr. Samuel I) Mcllwain, who lived near Joties' X llouds, died last Monday night after a short illness. He was in town Thursday seemingly in his usual health and the annoueetnent of his death yesterday morning was quite a stock to his many friends here, lie was apparently well up to Saturday when he took his bed from a bilious attack or attack of congestion. He wus married some years ago to Miss Mary Twitty, daughter of Mr W R> Twitty and she with three children survives him. lie was a member of Douglas Presbyterian church, a clever, kindhearted man, and a quiet, peaceable, good citizen. The discussions were interesting. On Sunday the attendance was the largest ever known at Fork 11iiI. The crowd is said to have number* ed 2,000. The new church building was dedicated that day and the sermon by Kev .1 II Holdridge was excellent. Several hundred dollars was raised during the sessions of the Association for the various purposes to which the association makes donations.
