being it principal in the shooting
of Gov Goebel, the defe dant
himself being the chief p&rtici

crowded nt the time and the ox

the Louisville detective,
had just told of his talks with
Youtsey before and after his ar
rest. Then Arthur Goehel nut
put oil the stand and .Judge lien
Williams, who for the tirst tiuu
appeared for the prosecution, did
the questioning. Arthur Goehel
said:
"I bilked with Youtsey the day
he was arrested late in the after
noon, in the jail in Frankfort, in
reference to the murder ot my
brother."
.lust at this point Youtsey
arose behind his attorneys and in
a loud voice said: "It is untrue:
it is a lie 1 never spoke a word t<

and everyone was becoming excited.
Yntilsey's wife sprung tn
his side. Then Youtsey hysterically
shouted airain; "I am in

my hand; these men are swearing
my life swav.''
Two or th**ee deputy sheriffi
went over and grubbed him. H<
struggled wildly and said; "Le
me alone. I will not sit down.'
Arthur Goehel meanwhile su
sphynx-like in the witness chaii
and never turned his head. Final
Iv after Youtsey was forced int?
a seat ho shouted aguin: "Goebe

hell could not kill him."
"Mr. Sheriir, if the defendan

and cried hysterically. Finalh
quiet was restored and Judgo Will

defendant's condition. JudjcCan

reason for the defendant's out
