the children Mrs Smith, with the
cunning of a maniac, tried to force
them to d? ink carbolic acid. Ijong

cause of the woman's insanity.
She drove her husband to the
station this morning anil appeared
happy and narc-free. She promised
to meet him on his return from the
city at night. It is believed that
she went out in the morning after
her return from thadiive to the
tiuiuwiiii ber husband and bought
the pistol. Where and when she
bought her carbolic acid is a mys
tery. Willi the pistol she bought a
box of cartridges. I'en of these
were missing Iron) the box when it
was found. In the pistol were
tliire discharged curt ridged and
two loaded

discovered the cavern, and explored
it for a considerahle distance,
in the cave they found a running
stream of clear water, which contained
specimens of strange eyeless,
white fish.
On their recent visit to I lie
cave, the hoys found that the
stream had completely dried u; ,
and tbov went a considerahle distance
under the ground. Wiicuj
about half a mile from the en-!
trance they discovered u largo
pile of linman bones, skulls, etc.,
