Spain and of legislation pertaining
thereto. He was severe in
hia denunciation of Senator Mc>
Laurin, characterizing him as the

in the 79th year of his age Ho
was horn in York county Sept IS, |
1821, and came to this county in'

Wyatt Patterson that year and
for Hr T F Mt-Dow in 1854. The'
following vear he? began farming

for himself and has followed that
occupat'on evor since. lie was
stout and robust up to three years
ago since which time ho has suffered
intensely but has borne his
sufferings wi h christian fortitude.
lie volunteered and went out
with the first troops in the Con
federate service and made a good
soldier. He took part ?n many
of Mie hardest fights in old Virginia
and at Pittsburg hud his gun
s^iot from his grasp. In war as
in peace ho was faithful in the
discharge of every duty.
March 4, 1^6<>, he was married
to Miss Nannie L Bailey, who
now survives him with three
daughters, Mis .John L Barton,
Mrs R D F Barton, Mrs A .1
Ballard, and one son, 1* B Lynn.
He was a kind husband, a loving
father and a good neighbor.
Honest and upright, he wronged
no man of nnything.
His remains were interred at
heaver (/lock church of which ho
was ii consistent member, at 5
o'clock Wednesday afternoon.
