At the ago of 17 he was promoted to a position on the statf of Gon Logan. In East Tennessee ho was severely wounded while bravely defending the rights of South Carolina. He served his country faithfully in all the battles around Richmond ; served as a member of Hampton Legion, where he was often se leeted for scout duty, and tilled the position with great ability. Such service as he rendered in our time of greatest need deserves recognition at the hands of a grateful people.
