He has been employed the pant six months on the trestle force of he ^ Seaboard's new road under con traction between Ctieruw and . Columbia. Last Tuesday he , came home on a visit to his famif f ly and to secure hands to work on ? the road. Ho complained of a severe headache which ho said he had had for about two weeks and 1 that ho had nover had a headache (4 1 before in bis life. Shortly after that ho became almost distracted from the pain in his head and walked 0 1 j the floor halloaing that his head was killing him. In about fire minutes he lay down and seemed o , . _ . , to get easy dozing off into sleep, and could not he aroused any more except during the first hour to answer inquiries hy his wife as to how he felt. A hoot 4 o'clock in the afternoon ho had something j like a spasm and Drs Strait and Poovev were summoned. On ar11 J riving they found him in a dean ^ stupor, breathing heavily. They did what thry could hut failed to ^ revivo him. Ho lingered until about 8:30 o'clock when life heft canto extinct. 9 . Thursday morning Magistrate e Caskey, owing to the illness of Coroner Young, summoned a jury and held an inquest over the body. A verdict was returned in accordance with the opinion of the physicians, that he cmue to his n death from an overdose of mor, phino or other opiate. If such I was the cause of death, it is unaccountable as to how he obtained it, for it was not administered by ? m\ ' the physicians or any member of ^ tho family. W It Sapps was a native of this county and was about 38 years of ago. He married Miss Henrietta ^ Long, a daughter of our towns-1 r man, Mr. W .1 I^ong. Ilia wife ^ and three childron, the youngest j only about 5 weeks old, and one brother and sister survive him. a r They have tbe sympathy of their u friend* in their bereavement.
