The township or ward clubs
shall met on the fourth Saturday
in April. These local clubs elect
a pre-i lent, a recording and a
corresponding secretary and a
treasurer, and shall have three
woi king committees of not less
than three members each; a committee
on registration, an executive
committee and mch other
committees as may he deemed;
expedient.
These clubs shall operate under
the control of a county executive
committee, which shall consist of
one member from each cluli, to
lie elected by the respective clubs. ;
The executive committee shall ap- I
point its own ofticers except the
chairman, who shall be elected by !

the gold standard as the country's

issues by national banks of money

raliernacle, Bethlehem, Flat Creek

riends and acquaintances from
lifTerent sections of this and
L'hester field counties.
Your correspondent,on arriving
it the Grand ('unositv of natural
formation, found that a large
numher of young people had already
preceded him,all with pleas- I
ant and captivating manners,
which foretold to us that there
was a rare treat in store for all
that would participate in the delightful
festivities of the occasion.
The people kept coming from all
sections, until when wo all assembled
for the bountiful repast,
at 12 o'clock, there wera between
one hundred and fifty and two
hundred people upon the surface
of that great rock.
In a short time after your correspondent's
arrival he had the
pleasure of joining a partv that
were going out to explore the
wonderful works that nature has
wrought in and around this celebrated
place, and best of all he
was successful in obtaining thai

most charming company of one of
the fair sex, which was unbounded
pleasure and some would have the !

Van \V j'ck farmers are behind
with farm work, owing to tho
continued wet weather. Them
has been but tew daj s suitable
for plowing. Labor is plentiful
but the cotton acreage will bo but
little increased if any. Our farmers
will continue to diversify their
crops, looking to an abundant
home supply regardless of the
advance in the price* of cotton.
About the usual amount of commercial
fertilizers will be used.
Some grain fields arc looking well,
but as a general thing the grain
crop is very back ward and damaged
by ihe late freezes. However,
we have not heard of any grain
fields being plowed up for cotton.
Some of our farmers have been
trading some of their old stock
for new ones this spring, and can
boast of getting some fine mules
and horses. Some of them oride
themselves of having tho best in
the county.
