\ CARD FROM MRS FOSTER.
1 wish to ho clearly understood
in roference to my positian as an
applicant for the post oflico at
Lancaster, and. will hero state,
that niv application ?has heen on
tile among the records of 4th As
sistnnt P. M. General sinco 1st of
Deccmher last. I was directed to
send it to my Congressman, Hon.
D. PL. Finley, by Sen. B. It. Tillman,
as being the proper person
to present it, and both Sen. Tillman
and Mr. Finley assured me
of their co-opoi ation.
I sent a strong endorsement of
my petition and many able letters
of commendation ns to my eminent
fitness for the position, from
persons of prominence at Lancas
ter?and if that could bo the
mcv ns of conferring this appointment,
I feel assured that it would
fall to me.
I hud no wish to supplant Mr.
J. F. Gregory, who has so worthi
ly serred us us postmaster, hut
he assured me, before I began,
that he did not expect to make
any application and with the
heartiest good will approver of
my nove to get up my petition.
And with a strong petition, and
many [tine letters of commendation
from a number of prominent
citizens of Lancaster, 1 sent my
credentials through Muj. Miller to
tlon.'D. K. Finley. 1 think it a
mere matter of conjecture now as
to whom the appointment will be
given. 1 would like very much
to have it, and request the cooperation
of the interested peopie
>f both the town and the county.
I am a native of Lancaster, have
been known throughout the county
since childhood, and, would
make my best etrorts to please
her people.
Very truly,
Mrs. Charlotte R. Foster.
