Dr Feaster a leading physic?*^ 1

section a garter snake, preserve
in alcohol, which he recently took
from the stomach of a seven year- *
old girl.
The girl resides with her pa- 1
rent?1, Mi and Mrs Bobbins, in "
Delaware county. There are two *
wells on the farm, one at the 1
barn, and a ease of fever in the
family caused the doctor to advise
the ahandondment of the oldfashioned
open well at the house
. <
The little girl, without the
knowledge of her parents, used
the water from the old well some
time after its abandonment.
While drinking alio strangled
and told her mother that she had j
swallowed a worm. The follow |
ing day the child had spasms. A <
visitor at the house the same day
drew some water from the well
and was surprised to find a small
garter snake in the cup.
The child prow worse each day
and rapidly lost llesh,* refusing
nourishment. Powders were ?
given her to dry up the accretions J
of the stomach, and after three j
days the snake wriggled from her j 1
mouth and fell to the floor.
The little fellow coiled himself
up on the tloor and raised his head
in the air, hut was immediately
dispatched by Mr Bobbins. The
snake is about eight inches in
length.

Aside from what the hankers

wer a plain question? Does the

the price of commodities? ? Spai

What do you mean by "mon
ey?" So long as there is enough
of something representing a tixed
value to do business with we do
not believe the amount of it in
existence makes any direct difference.
When trade is good the
demand for commodities natural

demand comes au increase in
prices.
Mr Whitney to the contrary,

States promise to pay knoir an
boon as Colo id Bryan and his
fifty cants dollars scheme were
knocked out tlmt he could get
gold for it. So long as thert is
gold enough in the world to make
these promises good, it will tie in
the treasury to meet them on pre
aentation. That confidence boomed
enterprises and started the
wheels turning, and one thing
moved another. If there had
heeu a 15,000,000 hale cotton

heen twice what it is, cotton
would have sold at cents. If
there had been h 4,000,000 hale

at 10 cents. If
there was no money in existence
prices of commodities
would he fixed by their relative

Tim? to Give Up.
Ad Iowa judge recently related
an amusing incident that had occurred
in hiw court when an old
colored man was brought up for
some petty offence. The charge
was read, and as the statement
"The state of Iowa against .John

the colored man's ?yes bulged
nearly out of their sockets, and
ho seemed overcome with terror
