Cotton Seed Oil Mill
The matter of organizing a cot- i
ton seed oil mill and fertilizer
company at this place was being
discussed by some of our business
men yesterday. It has not yet
taken definite shape but it wiil, in
all piobability, in a few days.
Oil mill stock everywhere in the
State pays from 10 to 20 per cent
in annual dividends. We know
of no small enterprise that will be
of more benefit, to the town and
county and that will give better
returns on the investment. Nobody
who has the money will have
to lie begged to take stock.
Death of Rev J no. Faile.
On the 25th instant at 8:30 p
m. Rev Jno Faile of Flat Creek
quietly breathed his last in the
presence of his immediate family
and a few intimate friends, i
While he had been confined to his
bed only a very short time his
death was .not unexpected as he
had been in failing health for
some time, '''he immediate cause
of death was Bright's disease from
which he had been suffering fori
quite a while, lb; was born Dec.
1st 1822 and was therefore 771
years old. When quite a young
man ho was married to Miss!
Martha Kennington who now
survives him. Nino children were
born to them five of whom are}
still living.
Mr Faile entered the Confederate
army in April 1 I and remained
in active service throughout
the war. Soon after the war
he entered tho Baptist Ministry
inni smir iin-n his 11iuo nils noon
spenc in pointing sinners to Christ.
His stvlc lias always been plain
1
and matter-of-fact yet under his
preaching many sinners have been
converted and under his super- \
vision several churches were organized,
notably among the latter
being old Laurel 1LII church
which stood about a half mile
from town and was the original
Kershaw Baptist c hurch.
His remains wore interred in
the family burying ground near
Charlesboro church on the 27 inst
in the presence of several hundred
relatives and friends. The j
funeral services were conducted
by Rev T A Dubney in a verv
able and inprcssive manner.
In his death the community 1
loses a good citizen, the church a ,
worthy member and an earnest I
and honest pastor. !1
Wo extend our synipath to the ,
l>ereaved widow and children in
their sad hour of affliction.? i
