the summer school for teachers
at this place, will deliver a
free lecture at the court horse on
Monday night next. His subject
will lie "The father of English
Poetry." The public is invited
and those who fail to attend will
miss a rare treat.

Painful Accident
On Thursday last, General, the
8-year old son of Mr John M
Plylor of the Ncwcnt neighborhood,
had the thi<jh hone of one
of his legs broken by falling from
a tree. Dr II G Klliolt set the
broken limb and the little fellow
was doing very well at last ac
counts, though he sutTered intensely
for a few days.

Mrs W B Knight received a
telegram last Friday afteinoon
announcing the death of her father,
Mr J C Hoke, a highly respected
and prominent citizen of
York county. His death occurred
of cancer. Mrs Knight had
just returned from his bedside the
day before, the impression being
that he was improving. Mr and
Mrs Knight, and Miss Maggie
Hoke left on the tirst train for'
Lesulie. They returned home
Monday.

On Monday last Mr L C Small
of Dixie, received a telegram from
his brother-in-law, Mr Win Black
of South McAllister, Indian Territory,
announcing the death of
his son, Mr Thomas Small, which'
occurred at 7 o'clock that morning
of typho-malarial fever. Mr

months ago and had a position in
the store of his uncle ut South
McAllister. lie was a promising!
young man and was doing well. ]
His friends hero will deeply lament
his untimely death.
