Cadet Blakeney came home yesterday to spend the summer vacation. The other students will be homo the last of next week. Mr. J It Thompson's mules became frightened and ran off yesterday morning down Catawba street. The wagon struck a telegraph post just south of Col. Springs1 residence and was badly broken up, as was also the harness. Mr. T's little son Oscar, was standing in front of the mules when they started and came i near being run over. Mrs Short was a sister )i Mr S D Ballard, and was a V good, pious christian woman, de- h roted to he family and true to her friends. She was about 40 years V )f age, and leaves her husband e: ind two children to mourn their C great loss.
