A gentleman came walking into

his name as Dr J M Lawson who
was an assistant surgeon in 1st

had hcen mustered out of services
with that regiment. He went to
Washington on business, expecting

failed to get this, and had spent
what he had with him. He left
Washington, soon after the deep

toward his home at Union, S. C.
He wa'ked most of his way, and
found his ideals and lodging us

style from the tramp. Ho was
too proud to accept charities of

and one and a half davs journey
on foot from his home, after
some hesitation he accepted his

by our citizens which gave him a
chance to eat his ouster dinner
Sunday at his own home.
