is now at Van Wvck. This library ^
contains several hundred voluiuns

horticulture, darying and
many other subjects of interest to j
the people at large. The industrial
department of the S. A.

courage and awaken an interest
CI
in many departments of industrial
development in the fertile country j
through which its great line

people avail themselves of these
helps. Our industrial agents have
keen trying to induce our people
to order through them some of
the fruit hearing trees recom- L

cheap, and fresh stock from the K

day trying to place some of his t\
goods with otic of our Merchants. s,
But this is one place he failed to ni
get a contract signed, llo snowed p
us one of his printed contracts,
which is a one sided affair, as the
firm's name for whom he sells is
not mentioned nor signed by the
firm nor its agents, but by the .
purchaser alone, we asked the ^
agent why the fii ms name was ^
not mentioned or contract signed
by them, he answered that he did
not know, and that this was the
first time it had ever been brought
\
to his attention. This concern .
may he allright, but wo see no
reason why its name should he
c
withheld, if its' goods and business
D
is worthy of patronage.
Heavy ruins on tho head water* 1
of tne Catawba caused a very
high freshet. The back waters
on Twelve Mile creek looked like
inland seas. The bridge on the
ltiver road near Van Wyck, over
Twelve Mile creek, was torn to
pieces, which puts the traveling
public to much inconvenience and
should be replaced by county
supervisor at once.
Misses Blanch Smith and Minnie

Our handsome Constable is
much worried about so much
rains and high waters. This can
be explained by simply mentioning
that he is a newly inftrried

Charles T. Williams of Tunnel

aeksburg, in ^ ork county, on
h. <5, 189(>. The affair was
rr mysterious, hut develop
ills led to the arrest of Marion
Keeso and Daniel F. Buckie,
tli Mrs. Ellen Anderson as noisory.
Buckie was Mrs. Anderi's
brother. Tho latter had

r for years.
Mrs. Anderson located in
acksburg, and scandal connected
r name with that of Reese. The
;ts brought out in the trial led
the conclusion that Reese, iniely
jealous, had murdered
illiuiiis, and the object of the
ttrrel was Anderson's wife.
The trial was a sensational one.

prisoners who escaped that
