Heavy ruins on tho head water* 1 of tne Catawba caused a very high freshet. The back waters on Twelve Mile creek looked like inland seas. The bridge on the ltiver road near Van Wyck, over Twelve Mile creek, was torn to pieces, which puts the traveling public to much inconvenience and should be replaced by county supervisor at once. Misses Blanch Smith and Minnie Massey of Waxhaw spent several days at Van Wyck with relatives and friends this week. Mr. .1 M Nisbet made a purely mismess trip to axliuvv a lew days since. Buckie, tli Mrs. Ellen Anderson as noisory. Buckie was Mrs. Anderi's brother. Tho latter had irried Robert A. Anderson in iorgiu had been divorced from n, remarried hiui and separated nit). It develojied in the trial it the murdered man had been r more than lo7er before her st marriage, and had followed r for years. Mrs. Anderson located in acksburg, and scandal connected r name with that of Reese. The ;ts brought out in the trial led the conclusion that Reese, iniely jealous, had murdered illiuiiis, and the object of the ttrrel was Anderson's wife. The trial was a sensational one. io woman's lawful husband was picted as u vagabond, but ho rncd up suddenly a respected izen of Arizona, and his aparance at court led to the con :tion of Reese and Buckie delta Mrs. Anderson's tragic conation that she herself bml <tr-?/l 3 shot. Iteese and Luckic were eon-* :ted on Friday, the 13th of ivemher, and in attempting to rape from the court house, eso was allot in the back of tho ad, in tho aame spot where illiams had been struck, and at 3 same hour of tho night. Ho covered and was confined to I 13 in York jail. On the 13th February, 1K07, he and Luckio ide a most daring escape from >rk jail, just a year from tho te of the murder. There were prisoners who escaped that jht. They made their eseapo boring through tho three inch ling with a very small Hit, and iggingiup tho holes with chew* gum*until the hoards could ho moved.
