In the sessions court at Green- n
villo last Friday Contractor John
G Chaflin was fouad "guilty with
recommendation to mercy" of the
mu>dor of Architect Warren H M
Grube. This means a life term j.
in the penitentiary, unless he is
granted a new trial.
This makes four convictions of
manslavers in the Greenville court (
so far during this term of the
court and not a single acquittal.
ChatGn, and Williams who was
convicted without recommendation
to mercy, both seem to have
been men of some prominence.? .

were as fearless and impartial in ^
the discharge of duty as the jury ^
