of those whose public

the sea of journalism. Wo ai?
well pleased with the liberal support
the hiaxa'.it receives in the

subscribers speak of it. as they
often do, as **the old Lkixiku."
It sho\ys they feel an interest in
it and in its perpetuation. It has
chronicled the history of the countv
for nearly half a century. The
bovs of its infancy are the old
men or t???l:i y. They are its
friends because they grew tip t<?gether.
The hoys of to<l:tv hold
it in veneration for its u<jre and
est"ci 11 it :is an <>ld established institution
of the count v. Its friends
are nuinhere I among the old, the
middle-aged and the young.
There is no native Lancastrian
hut what loves or should love the
Lkdckk, and it* suhserihers are
found in every State in the I'nion
where a native of Lancaster county
has settled. Its editor feels very
grateful for the patronage it receives
and hopes for an increased
patronage during its 47th year
that he may make the paper even
better than it is.
