MrQ It Stevenson, of Pleasant Vtffltey, who was recently a rrcstedvp a warrant sworn out by an unmi,rried daughter, the mother of two children, charging him with committing a rape on her, and wh> was admitted to hail in the sum of $1 ,500 by ,1 udge Jones, was arrested again last Thursday on a warrant charging him with a i similar crime upon another daughter, Mis Ella A Perry, alleged to have been committed about the 1st of March 1K9G, nearly 18 months ago, and about one month prior to her marriage. A preliminary hearing was had before Mag istrnte Ilowie at Eclair on Saturday. Mrs Perry was the only witness examined. She was rigidly cross examined by the defendant's attorney, .1 T Green, Esq., after which the Magistrate, concluding there was not sufficient evidence to establish a prima faciecasc, discharged the defendant, lie was immediately re-arrested on a warrant charging him with having committed a rape on another daughter, Minnie Stevenson, alleged to have been committed about the 'J.">th of February 1 >'.?<>. A preliminary was at once held in this case, the only witness being Mrs Perry, the prosecutrix in the case which had just been dismissed. The evidence was considered insufficient arid the defendant again discharged, when he whs again re-arrest e<l, the charge this time being that ef incest with his daughter Minnie. The testimony adduced did not tend to establish the crime and Mr Stevenson was again discharged and returned to his home. Pension Money Arrived.
