A lull middle aged mulatto, wearing
a blue coal and red-shirt, broke
into the house of Mr. Jas. Mackey,
near Bruce'*, on Tuesday morning
last, and besides some clothing belonging
to Mr. Mackey, stole a valise and
the clothing of Mr. Lee Johnson, of
Georgia, who was visiting Mr. Mackey's
family. No one was at home at
the time and the negro broke into the

only a few hundred yards from the
house, but Mr. J., never once suspected
it was his valise the negro had until
he returned to Mr. jl/ackey's in the

and at Peay's Ferrv, the pursuers
learned that a negro of that doseripti
>o had crossed the river about
