The tragedy of Saint Domingo will he
renewed on a wider theatre, with bloo lief
incidents. He warned by this historic
precedent. It was the denial of rights
to colored people, nfter excessive promises,
which caused that fearful insurrection.!
After various vicissitudes, during which
the rights of citizenship were conferred on
free people of cokir and then resumed,
the slaves at last rose, and here the soul
sickens at the recital.
