He it enacted by the Sen Ate and IIou=o
of ^preventatives of the Uuiled States
of America in Congress assembled, That
every person who shall hereafter commit
lbs crime of treason against the United
States, and ?h?)l be,-adjudged guilty
thereof, ahall sutler death, and all hi*
alares, if any, ahall be declared and made
free; Or at the discretion of the court, he
ahall he imprinouad for not less than live
years, and lined not lees than ten thou
aand dollars, and all his slaves, if any,
ahall be declared and made free ; said
fine shall be levied and collected on nny
or all of tho properly, real or personal,

That to ensure the speedy termination ol
the present rebellion, it shall bo tlio dutyof
the President of the United States to

property, money, stocks, credits, and ef
feds of tlio persons hereinafter named in
this section, and to apply and use the
saino and the proceeds thereof for the
support of the army of the United States,,
that is to say :
First?Of any person hercafler acting
as an ollicer of the army or navy of the
rebels in anus agsdust the government ol

Secondly?Of any person hereafter
noting as l'rssident, Vice I'ie&ideut,
Member of Congress, Judge of any court,
cabinet olliccr, foreign minister, cotmuis
sioucr or consul of the so called Confed*
urate Slates of America.
Thirdly?Of any person acting as Gov
ernor of a State, member of a convention
or legislature, or judge of any court of
any of the so culled Confederate States of
America.
i Fourthly?Of any person who, having
l held an oliico of honor, trust ot profit in
-. the United Slates, shall hereafter hold an

of America.
Fifthly?Of any person hereafter bold '

Stales of America, or under any of the

property in any loyal State or Territory
