1. Be it enacted by the Senate and
House ol Representatives, now met and
silling in General Assembly, and by the
authority of the same, That the Ordiuan
ces of the Convention of this Slate, except
the Ordinance entitled, "An Ordinance to
exempt overseers from the performance of
militia duty," passed on the second day 1
ofjanuary iu the year of oifr Lord one '
thousand eight hundred and sixty-two, 1
which is amended hereinafter by the pro '
visions of this Act, and *H Acts, resolu 1
lions, and orders, of the Governor and '
Council, altering, suspending or repealing
the Militia law of this Slate, be, and the j
same are hereby repealed, and the provisions
of the Act of the General Assembly C
entitled, "An Act to reduce all acts and
clauses of acts in relation to tbe Militia of

II. That an Act entitled, "An Act to |
amend aad fcuspend certain portions of
the Militia and l'atrol laws of this State,"
parsed on the seventh day of December
in the year of our Lord or.e thousand
eight hundred and six'j cire, he and the '
??me is hereby regaled except the fifth,
sixth, eleventh, and thirteenth sections,
which are hereby declared to be of full '
force and effect and that said thirteenth '
section be so amended that the clerk
therein authorized to be appointed by the !
Governor shall he entit'ed to a commis j
sion as Assistant Adjutant General with !
the rank and pay of Pi rat Lieutenant of | '
infantry in Confederate service, to date
from the day of his appointment.
III. AH male persons between the ages
of eighteen and fifty shall be liable to
militia duty, except per?ons who are ex
empted' by the said Act of eighteen hun
dred end forty pnp "from all Militia Ser
vice."
IV. Tbe following persona sliall be exempted
from ordinary mintia duty, but
ball be liable to perform tbe duty in
timee of alarm, insurrection, invasion, or an

service in their respective districts when
