I IMPORTANT DISCOVERY.
C 0 N S ulfp TION
AND ALL
Disease* of the LL NOS and THROAT
CAN liK
CURED BY INHALATION.
Which conveys the remedies to the cavities
in the lungs, tluough the air passages, and coming
in direct contact with the diswaec, neuti alines
the tubercular matter, allays the cough, causes
a free and easy expectoration, heals the
lungs, purities the blood, imparts renewed vitality
to the nervous system giving that tone and
energy so indispensnble for the restoration of
hcal'h. To be able to state confidently that
Consumption is curable by inhalation, is to me
a source of unalloy .J pleasure. It is as much
under the control of medical treatment as any
other formidable disease; ninety out of every
nuuuicn cases can be curctl m tlie Ilrst stages,
und fifty percent in the second; but in the third
stage it in impossible to save more than five per
cent, for the lungs arc ?e cut up by the diseasa
as to bid defiance to medical skill. Even, how.
ever, in the last stages, Inhalation affords cxtiaordiuary
relief to the goffering attending this
feat tul scourge, which annually destroys ninetyfive
thousand persons in the United States alone ;
ami a correct calculation shows that of tin* pies,
erit population of the earth, eighty millions ate
destined to fill the Consumptive's grave.
Truly the quiver of death lias no arrow so fit.
tnl as Consumption. In uil ages it has been the
groat enemy of life, for it spares neither age nor
sex, but sweeps off alike the brave, the beautiful,
the graceful and the gifted. By the help of
that Supreme Being from whom comcth every
good ami perfect gift, 1 sm enabled to offer to
the afflicted a permanent and speedy cure in
Consumption. The first cause of tubercles is
from impure blood, and the immediate effect
produced by their deposition in the lungs is to
prevent the free admission of air into the air
cells, which causes a weakened'vitality through
the entire system. Then surely it is more rational
to expect greater good from medicines
entering the cavities of the lungs tl. ni from
those administered through the stomach; the
patient will always tinii the lungs free and the
breathing easy, alter inhaling remedies. Thus,
Inhalation is a local remedy, nevertheless it acts
constitutionally, and with more power and certainty
than remedies administered by the stomach,
To prove the powerful and direct intl icnce
of this mode ol administration, clilorofbi to

minutes, paralyzing the entire nervous system,
so tiuit u limit may tie amputated without tlie
slightest pain; inhaling the ordinary bunting
gas will destroy lite in a few hours.
The inhalation of ammonia will rouse the
system when tainting or apparentl. dead. The
odor of many of the medicines is perceptible
in the skin a few minutes after being inhaled,
and may lie immediately detected in the blood.
A convincing proot of the constitutional effects
of inhalation, is the (act that sickness is always
produced Iiv breathing ioul air?is this not positive
evidence that piopcr remedies, carefully
prepared and judiciously administered through
the lungs should produce the happiest results ?
During eighteen years practice many thuu-umls
siitlcriiig I nun diseases of the lungs and tin out,
have been under mv care, and I have effected
many rental kahlo cures, even after the stitfercis
had been pronounced in the last stages, which
fully satisfies me tiiat consumption is no longer
a fatal disease. My treatment of consumption
is original, an 1 founded on long experience and
a thoiough investigation. My peitcct nc<pi:iiu.
tance with die natuieof tubercles, Ac.., enables
me to distinguish, readily, the various forms of
| di-ease that simulate consumption, and apply
the proper remedies, rarely being mi-taken
even in a single ease. This familiarity, in connection
with certain pathological and microscopic
discoveries, enables mo to relieve the
lungs from the effects of contracted chests, to
enlarge Uie chest, purtfv thr bloou, impart to it
renewed vitality, giving energy and tone to the
entire system.
Medicines with full directions sent to any
part of the United States and famulus by pa.
ticiits communicating their symptoms by letter.
Hut the cure would he more ccitain if the
jiitiifiii anoum pay me a visit, which would give
an opportunity to examine the lung*, and cnithle
me to presenile with inucli greater certainty,
anil then the cure cuulil he etteclcd without my
seeing the patient again. All letters a.-kitig
advice must contain a postage stamp.

human family, as a permanent cure ia scarcely
ever effected, a majotity of the cases tailing inu?
the hands of incompetent persons, who not
only foil to cure the disease* but ruin the con
xtitution, tilling the system with mercury, which
with the disease, hastens the sufferer into iupid

Hnt stiould the disease and the treatment not
cause death speedily nnd the victim marries,
the disease is entailed upon the chtldicn, who

other affections of the skin, Eyes, Thioat and

of suffering, and consigning theiu to an early
grave.
SELF ABUSE is another formidable enemy
to health, for nothing else in the dread catalogue
of human disease* causes so destructive a
dram upon the system drawing its thousands of
victims through a few years of suffeting down
to an untimely grave. It destroys the .Nervous
System, rapidly wastes away the energies of life,
causes mental derangement, prevents the propar
development of the system, disipialdirs for
marriage, society, business, and all earthly happiness,
and leaves the sufferer wrecked in body
and mind, predisposed to consumption and a
train of evil* more to be dreaded than death
itself. With the fuheal confidence I asnure the
unfortunate victim* of Self-Abuse that a permanent
and speedy cure, can be effected, and
with the abandonment of ruinous practices, my
