you that your Extract of Yellow-Dock and
Sarsnparilln has performed one of the most
wonderful cures on me that has ever been effected
on man.
1 have been afflicted for forty years with

got so bad thut 1 had to go on crutches,
and in 1849 I had one leg amputated above
the knee. In about nine months after my
other leg broke out in large eating and run*
ning sores from my knee to my foot, and
discharged a great deal of offensive matter.
My groin also broke out in largo biles which
discharged much offensive matter, and at
the same time my left hand broke out in
large running sores nearly to my elbow.
The misery that I have suffered for the
last two years, I cannot describe to you. I
wns in such agony that I never rested day
or night.
In October last my son biought me one
of your bottle wrappers; I read it, and found
record of some wonderful cures performed
by your 'Extract of Yellow-Dock and Sarsnparilla,'
I sent and got two bottles of it,
and commenced taking it. In two weeks to
my great astonishment, my so.es all became
easy, and I could sleep all night, a thing I
had not done for two years. When I had
taken six bottles, my sores were nearly all
healed, My sores got well as if by enchantment.
I have now used in all, eight bottles
of your "Extract of Yellow-Dock and Sarsapnrilln,"
and I now consider myself well.
I entreat all of the afflicted to try this
medicine for 2 believe it will cure any known
disease in the world. I^ny aside all prejudice
and just try it, and proclaim its groat
worth to suffering mankind and entreat them

the beginning. A home is hardly complete,
we think we may safely venture to say,
without the Homo Journal^ which, besides
being a chroniche of the times, abounds in
intelligence designed to enliven an American
Home. Its editors (Geo. P. Mortis and
N. I'. Willis) devote their entire time, skill'
and experience, to the task of giving each
week, everything worth knowing. They
particularly keep an eye on all the whims
and novelties of the day. The utmost pains
are taken to present the facts and outlines
of all news. In the literary department,
we aim at sketches and readable criticism, '
and in our condensations of the productions
of the vast newspaper world of Europe, we
endeavor to avoid the tiresome nnd the local,
nnd transfer to our columns the pick of
English information nnd brilliancy, while
we endeavor to select with a true sense of
pure morals, true wit, and genuine humor.
In addition to the above, we have made new j
arrangements for a feature that is always j
attractive in a family journal. From several
different sources we arc to be supplied I
with the netrs and gossip of Mew York Society.
In a metropolis like ours, centre the
more sparkling elements of the life of our
country at lnrge, nnd collision and attrition
bring out much which would elso be dormant.
Afioat, in society gossip, is a small
world, of which the ordinary newspapers
make no report, and of this we think we can
promise nmusing photographs. In announcing
also, A new series of articles by Mr.
Willis, in addition to his usual labors, we
claim the privilege of leaving them to designate
their own style azd title as they appear.
They are to be quite different from
anything which has ever been published in
this journal from his pen, and we are very
sure that they will be no less attractive, to
say the least. The graphic nnd highly-finished
sketches, by "The Lady of SShalott,"
"Timothy Quaint" and others, will be continued.
We have also new correspondents
in London and Paris, who will send us much
that could never reach us through foreign
ournals.

very best of timber, and will be sold at moderate
prices. Captain Colhoru, the former menuger,
is still in attendance, and will be happy to accommodate
all persons disposed to faror hint
with their patronage.
