composing such firm. If it be a cor
portation, it shall contain the name ol
the corporation and officers of the
same.
Any person or persons carrying or
business or occupation or running
any establishment named in this oi
preceding sections, without having
taken out license [therefor as herein
provided, upon conviction shall be
fined not less than one dollar nor
more than one hundred dollars per
day or fraction thereof, to be im
prisoned in the county jail or to be
sentenced to hard work on the streets
or public works of the town for a pe
: riod of not less than thirty days for
each day and every day, or fraction
thereof such business or profession
is carried without license. For any
business, calling, occupation pr pro
fession not enumerated in the fore
going, a license,tax of not more than
$25.00 shall be paid to the clerk by
person, firm or corporation engaged
in or running same. All licenses is
sued under this ordinance shall be
posted in a conspicuous place on
premises where business or profession
is carried on, and subject to inspec
tion at any and all times by the offi
cers of the town.
Any person failing to post said li
censes shall be subject to a fine of
not more than five dollars or impris
onment for not more than ten days.
Any firm or officer of any corpora
tion making -fraudulent returns,
where a return under oath is by this
ordinance equired, shall upon con
viction be fined not less than twenty
five dollars, nor more than fifty dol
lars, or be imprisoned not more than
thirty days nor less than ten days, at
the discretion of the mayor.
Any person, firm or corporation
liable to the license tax herein tefore
set forth, whose said tax is regilated
by the amount of business doie or
the amount of stock camed, is re
quired to make a return under oath
to the clerk of the town couniil on
or before the 15th day of Aigust,
1921, and on failure so to do, such
person or officer or agent of such
firm or corporation shall be Halie to
a fine not exceeding one hundrel dol
lars or imprisonment not exceding
thirty days for each and everj day
or fraction thereof such person ?r of
ficer or agent aforesaid shall ie in
default of making such* returns.
The license on all dogs of ?very
age. and sex has been reduced tc fifty
cents and shall be due and payaile at
the same time with city license bove
called for, to the town clerj and
treasurer at his office in the. rar of
Farmers Bank at Edgefield.
All licenses issued under thefore
going sections are non-transf table
and will only protect those to rhom
they are given.
