A PROCLAMATION. Tue Stat? (of South Carolina Executive Chamber, Columbia. 1. Whereas, a petition has her tofore been duly filed with the Go' ernor of this State as provided t law and signed by at least one-thii of the qualified electors in the art proposed to be cut off from Edgi field County and annexed to McCo mick, which is described in said pi tition as follows: DESCRIPTION OF TERRITORY 2. Begin at a cotton-wood tr? on the west bank of Stevens Creel thence the Edgefield and McCormic County line to the South Carolin and Georgia States line in the Savar nah River; thence the South Carolin and Georgia State line in the Savar nah River to old Furry's Ferrj thence a straight line North 24 de grees East to a stake X3N on th west bank of Stevens Creek; thenc up the west bank of Stevens Cree to the beginning point. 3. Whereas, the report of th Commissioners appointed as require by law to ascertain whether or nc the requirements of the Constitutio and Statutes governing and r?gulai ing such matters have been and ar complied with has been made an filed with the Governor and show that all of such requirements ar complied with, which report, conclu sions and findings are fully concuri ed in and confirmed; 4. Whereas, under the laws o this State the petitioners, having ful ly complied therewith, are now en titled to have an election ordered an< held within this area upon the ques tion of cuting off the proposed ares and annexing the same to McCormicl County, 5. COOPER, GOVERNOR Ol THE STATE OF SOUTH CARO LIN, by virtue of the power confer red upon me by the Constitution an< laws of this State do order an elec tion to be held on the 9th day of No vember, 1920, within the said area and, since there is no regular votinj place located therein, the resident of Daniel McKie is accordingly de signated as the voting place for thi: special election; ,6. The Commissioners of Stat? .and County elections for Edgefielc County are directed to make all nee essary arrangements for the holdinf of said election, including the ap pointment of managers to conducl the same, the publication of this pro< ?amation in one of the newspapers published in Edgefield County, foi three successive weeks, the canvass ing of the returns, the declaration ?of the result and the certification oi the same to the proper officers as re quired by law.
