Dr. R. G. Lee delivered an address
before the W. C. T. U. convention
in Johnston last night.
Mr. J. H. Coursey, an old Confed
erate veteran of Colliers, was among
the visitors in Edgefield Saturday.
Rev. P. P, Blalock will preach in
the Presbyterian church at Johnston
next Sunday at 11:15 o'clock.

Mrs. A. E. Childress arrived from
Greer yesterday afternoon, having
made the journey in her car, accom
panied by her sons, Luther and Ben
Jones.
While Miss, Lila Lanham has great
ly improved in health, having prac
tically regained her normal strength,
she decided to spend some time in the
sanitarium oujt at State Park, near
Columbia. She left last week.

In a short time the Edgefield Mer
cantile Company will complete its
large brick warehouse on the rali
road near the site of the old depot.
It is divided into two sections with a
capacity of 600 bales of cotton to
each section. The work is in charge
' of Mr. W. S. G. Heath.
The social calendar for this week
includes a reception Thursday after
noon given by Mrs. P. P. Blalock, Jr.,
fer Miss Madge Mays, a miscellane
ous shower given by Mrs. J. G. Ed
wards and Mrs. Sam Morrall at the
latter's home in Trenton on Satur
day, another compliment for Miss
Mays, and a party Friday afternoon
given by Miss Miriam Norris in hon
or of Miss Helen Tillman.
Mr. J. P. Bland, manager of the
Consolidated Auto Company of John
ston, is now devoting his entire time
to the sale of Studebaker cars which
are becoming more and more popu
lar among the people who appreciate
and are able to own a high class car.
Studebakers have been considerably

Stricken With Paralysis.
The people of Edgefield have been
greatly depressed since Sunday over
the condition of Mr. Davis May. He
was stricken with paralysis in his
room Sunday afternoon and has been
unconscious since then. There has
been practically no change up to this
time but the attending physician has
expressed the belief that his system
will absorb the blood or leakage on
the brain and that he will soon ral
ly. Mr. May has many friends and
they feel very deeply for him.
