Notice of Election Edgefieli WHEREAS, The Legislature of this State, at its regular session for the year 1920, passed an Act-"To provide for a Highway Commission for Edgefield County, defining its duties, and to provide for the holding of an elec tion for the issuing of five percent ?coupon bonds for public road con struction in Edgefield County, and to provide a sinking fund for their retirement." AND WHEREAS, In and by the provisions of said Act, the said Highway Commission were directed, as soon as practicable, to decide what roads in said County shall be constructed and improved, and the character of the roads to be built, with an estimate of the cost of such work, and file in the Office of the Clerk of the Court a sketch or drawing showing what roads of the county the proceeds of the bonds will be first expended upon, and make a report to the Supervisor of the County of the costs of such con struction and improvement. AND WHEREAS, At a meeting of the said Highway commission held at Edgefield on the 31st day of August, *920, the said Highway Commission; adopted the I following resolution : RESOLVED: That the report of ?the engineer be adopted, and that the map or plat made by him of the roads to be first constructed and im proved be turned over to the Super visor of the County, with instruc tions to give the proper notice of the election to be held on the 31st day of August A. D. 1920, to deter mine whether or not the bonds shall be issued as provided for in and by the Act of the Legislature, herein above mentioned, creating a High way Commission for Edgefield County. D. 1920, at the usual voting places in Edgefield County, upon the question of issuing five per cent coupon bonds of the County to the amount of the estimated cost of the work planned and reported to the Supervisor by the members of the Highway Com mission of Edgefield County; pro vided, the total amount of said bond issue shall not exceed the sum of Three Hundred Thousand Dollars. It is further ordered, as provided in said Act that the Commissioners of State and County Elections shall appoint three Managers, and a Clerk, for each of the election pre cincts of said County, who shall conduct said election, receive and tabulate the returns as in other elec tions. They shall report the result of said election in writing, in dupli cate, one copy of which shall be fil-J ed in the office of the Supervisor, j and the other copy shall be filed in ?the office of the Secretary of State 1 in the City of Columbia. It is further ordered that the com missioners of State and County elections shall provide ballots for said election, prepared as directed in and by the said Act of the Gener al Assembly'.
