Order For Special Election STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA EDGEFIELD COUNTY TOWN OF JOHNSTON WHEREAS, It is provided by the laws of South Carolina that it shall be the duty of the Municipal Au thorities of any Incorporated City or Town of the State upon a petition of a majority of the free holders of the said City of Town, as shown by the tax books, to order a special elec tion in the said City or Town for the purpose of issuing bonds, for any corporate purpose set forth in said petition; AND WHEREAS, A petition has been filed with the Town Clerk of the Town o* Johnston, signed by the ma jority of the free holders of the said town as shown by the tax books, re questing the Town Council of the Town of Johnston to order an elec tion therein submitting the question' of issuing bonds to the amount of Sixty-Five Thousand ($65,000,000) Dollars for the purpose of construc ting a Water Works System for the Town of Johnston. NOW THEREFORE Be it resolved by the Town Council of the Town of Johnston in Council Assembled and by the authority of the same that a special election be, and the same is hereby odered, in the Town of John ston to be held on the eleventh day .of May 1920, according to the Laws of the State of South Carolina res pecting said election, at which elec tion the registered qualified electors of the said Town of Johnston shall be entitled to vote on the question or issue, "Shall the Town of Johnston issue coupon bonds to the amount of Sixty-Five Thousand ($65,000,000) Dollars, bearing interest at a rate .not to exceed six per cent per annum payable in any legal tender money of the United States forty years after date, with the privilege of redemp tion after twenty years from date: the proceeds of sale of said bonds to "be applied to the contruction of Water Works System for the sai Town," "Yes" or "No." That John Wright, Supervisor of Registration of the said Town of Johnston is hereby directed to open Books of Registration tv/enty days prior to said election, to wit on the twentieth day of April 1920, and keep them open for a period of ten days in the office of Lott-Walker Company in the said Town of John 3ton from eight o'clock in the fore noon until four o'clock in the after noon, for the pupose of registering the names of the qualified electors of the said Town of Johnston and that he do give due notice of the time and place of opening the said Books of Registration. That said special election shall be held at the store of Lott-Walker Com pany in the Town of Johnston, and the polls shall be open at eight o'clock in the forenoon and closed at four o'clock in the afternoon. That ?t said special election H. W. Dobey, W. M. Wright and W. E. LaGrone shall act as managers. That the Town Clerk and the said manages of election do give notice of the said election as is required by law. STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA COUNTY OF EDGEFIELD TOWN OF JOHNSTON Be it resolved and ordained by the Town Council of the Town of John ston in Council Assembled and by the authority of the same that at the special election on the question of is suing bonds for the construction of a Water Works System in the said Town the electors shall elect three citizens of the said Town of Johnston, who shall be known as Commissioners of Public Works of said Town, and shall be charged with such duties, clothed with such powers and hold office for such terms as are provided by the laws of the State of South Carolina. Be it resolved and ordained by the Town Council of the Town of John ston in Council Assembled and by the authority of the same that the afore said elections are appointed to be held and shall be conducted accord ing to the laws of the State of South Carolina governing municipal elec tions.
