Bussey, Jr. Mrs. P. A. Dowling of Beaumont, Texas, has been spending the past week with her sisters, Mrs. Manly JJeLoach and Mrs. Abner Broad vater. "The American Girls" are com ing. They will give the first enter tainment of the lyceum ourse in the opera house Tuesday night. Do not fail to see them. AU lovers of mirth and music should see "The American Girls"! in the opera house Tuesday night. It will be the best musical enter tainment that Edgefield has ever bad. The county board acted wisely and well last week when it re-elected john R. Scurry steward of the County Home. He is the right man for the place and should be kept there. James Velix, the preprieter o? the fruit store next door to the post office, has opened a branch store on tba corner next door to the Farmers Bank. Our young friend, Arnold Ch?atham, is in charge. Mr. Ben Hughes made a hurried visit to his brother,Mr. J. Chalmers Hughes, Saturday. Mr. Hughes is engineer on . the Eatesburg-Perry branch ot* the Southern and is re garbed a* a very capable mau. Miss Maggie* Winn has accepted the Sullivan school for another term, this making her third year as principal of the flourishing sohool. The trustees and patrons are fortu nata in securing ber for another Dr. B. M. Eppes has come to Edgefield to practice dentistry, hav ing formed a copartnership with Dr. A. H. Corley. He is a very ca pable young man who made many friends in Edgefield during bis stay here in the past. Give Mr. O. P. Bright your co operation in his efforts to arrange a county float for the State fair. He only has about two more weeks in which to make everything ready. Talbert, the beloved wife of Col. W. J. Talbert, died at her home in Puksville Tuesday. A ful ler i o tice will be given next week. Death of Bright Boy. Atter an illness nf only two or three days, Atwood Crafton, the son of Mrs. Jessie Crafton, died Wednesday afternoon at the hom? or his grandfather, Mr. Arthur Wells. Ile was 12 years of age and an unusually bright boy. the idol of bis? mother .?nd grand paren is. Thc funeral was held at Horn's Creek church Thursday afternoon, behm conducted by Rev. P. B. Lanham. The Advertiser extends sympathy) to the bereaved household. The First Entertainment Have you selected your seats for the lyceum course? If not you had better call at once at the store of Collett & Mitchell and secure tick ets for the course. The first enter tainment of the course will be given in the opera house next Tuesday' night by "The American Girls." The program will be miscellaneous in character and the occasion will be thoroughly enjoyed by all who attend. Six very talented young la dies will give the first.entertainment of the course. Do not fail to attend. Death of Mrs. W. P. Winn. The earthly career of a good and very gracious woman ended when Mrs. W. P. V\ iun departed this life, last Friday morning. ?She was ill many months but bore it with Christian patience and fortitude, and during this tedious illness sbe j received the constant attention of devoted loved ones. Nothing was left undone in their efforts to stay the malady or to add to ber com fort. The funeral was held Satur day afternoon at Rehoboth church of which Mrs. Winn was a lifelong member. Rev. J. T. Littlejohn con ducted the funeral. Before her marriage to Mr. Winn, nearly 40 years ago, she was Miss cochran, a sister of the lamented R. A. Cochran. She spent ber long sojourn of 65 years in the Reho both community. During her entire married life she resided within four miles of thd old borne in which she was reared. The form of this gentle woman will not again be seen in the home, but ber ' influence, which was always wholesome and help ful, will live through all time in the community which she loved so well. Her mission upon earth hav ing been completed, the Saviour whom she served has called her up higher tu await the coming of loved ones for whom she lived, her chief joy aud delight being found in mak" mg the other members of the home circle happy. In addition to the devoted hus band, Mrs. Winn leaves two daugh ters, Mrs. George Talbert and Miss Maggie Winn, and eight sons, W. R. E., W. A., W. L., W. E., E. P., R. M., T. C. and J. E. Winn.
