Capt. and 3Irs. N. G. Evans were
guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. Berrien
Walker at their home in Beaufort
last week. Capt. Evans went with a
congenial party on a deer hunt for
"four days: Seven fine deer ' were
killed, one, a very large buck, fell
at the crack of . Capt. Evans' -rifle.
He sent the antlers and some choice
steak to Dr. J. H. Carmichael by
express.
3Ir. James T. Miras has been com
missioned by Governor Ansel as
treasurer of JEdgefield. county but
he will not assume the duties of the
.'office until a representative is sent
by the Comptroller General to
check up everything before the
office is turned over to him. This
should be done in justice both to
Dr. J. T. Pattison and Mr. Mims.
The treasurer's office will be open
probably early next week.
