be held at Harmony. Efforts will
be made to have Senator Carmack,

Mr. S. Cheatham was in town
on Monday and remarked that his
Williamson corn bas now grown
above the banks of the canal. A
heavy rain fell at his home Sun
day afternoon but a portion of
the road he traveled to Edgefieid
the following day was dry and
dusfy, which shows that the rains
have not bean general.

lawful for any person or per
sons, either by himself or
themselves, to sell, furnish,
give or provide any minor or
minors, under 'the age of
eighteen? year with cigarettes,
TOBACCO, or CIGAR
ETTE paper, or any substi
tute therefor.
Any person or persons
violating the provisions of the
preceding Section, either in
person, by agent, or in any
other way, shall bc held and
deemed guilty of a misde
meanor, and upon indictment
and conviction therefor shall
be punished by a fine not ex
ceeding one hundred dollars,
nor less than twenty-five dol
lars, or by imprisonment f?r
a term of nor more than one
year, not -less than two
months, or both, in +he dis?
cretion of the court; one-half
of the fine imposed to be paid
to the informer of the offense,
and the other half to be paid
to the treasurer of the county
in which .such conviction
shall be had.
