was. seen on a certain street in
Edgefieid last Sunday.
Mr Georgs W. Quarles of the
west-side is again a candidate for
supervisor of registration. Since
the day he was elected, Mr.
Quarles has always been at his

A dispatch from Spartanburg
states that Prof. Jobu E. Swear
ingen, who is now teaching in the
Cedar Springs' Institute, bas de

graduate of the South Carolina
University snd is fully competent
to fill this high position. Edge

Capt. John R. Bleeker aspires
to become one of Edge field's law
makers, and makes his formal an
nouncement in this issue. Capt
Blocker has been true to every
trust in the past and will be uo
less faithful iu this, if the people
choose .him as one of their rep
resentatives. He is a man who
considere a matter "well before
taking a stand, then beiDg fully
satisfied that a certaiu course is
right, hs is unswerving and un
compromising. Capt. Blocker will
announce his platform later.

Capt. James A) TimmermaD
who is now a full fledged Pallman
conductor is at borne for a few
dayB. Capt. Timmerman makes
Atlanta his headquarters and runs
to Birmingham two nights in the
week and to Columbus the re
maining five. He is greatly pleas
ed with his new position aDd the
outlook for future promotion. Mr.
Timmerman's family will contin
ue to reside in Edgefield, which
place, it matters not-wbithnr the
Pullman cars may carry him, be
will call homo.
The Farmers Bank.
On Wednesday last the stock
holders and directors of'the Far
mers Bank held their annual
meeting, aod touud the affairs of
this prosperous institution to be
in excellent shape. Au eight per
cent dividend was paid out, and
the remainder of net profils wlmh
amounted to several thousand
dollars-was passed to the surplus
account. Since the bank was or
ganized seventeen years ago, it
has paid dividends aggregating
$77,140 io its stockholdprs, and
in addition to this has accumu
lated a surplus fund of $35.OC0.
The book valu : of the stock ie
?160 for every $100 dollar origi
nally invested. The cf?ic*.rs of the
bank are to be congratulated upon

Farmers' Union, and told UH of
the great inconvenience that
Parksville ie suffering on account
of the closing of the telegraph
office at that piece. They can

of connection with. Augusta. The
matter has been reported to the
railroad commission and it is
probable that the Parksville office

Miss Florence Elizabeth Butler
and Mr. R. 0. Mayson were hap
pily united in the holy bonds of
wedlock at the hospitable home of
Mr. and'Mrs: R. T. Mayson on
the 29th ultimo at half past one
p. m. The attendants were as fol
lows : Miss Altalou Mayson with
Mr. Andrew Bitler, Misa Leila
May Butler with Mr. J. J. May
son. The bride was most beauti
fully attired in white trimmed in
lovely ribbon with beautiful hair
ornaments. The groom wore the
regulation black and shoes of the
latest agony which made them
look very handsomo indeed. The
officiating minister was Rev. Mr.
Strickland.; The oeremony was
long and very impressive.
The popularity of this couple
was shown by quite a large crowd
of relatives, and friends /ho after
a short notice assembled to wit
ness the union of these dear young
hearts.
After'many hand shakes and
congratulations, we took up our.
drive to the home of the groom's
mother, Mfa. G. C. Mayson, where
they will make their future home
and where there was a sumptuous
dinner served at 3 p. m. The din
ner consisted of quite a variety of
good things, something to suit the
taste of every one. W|,were greeted
with auch genuine hospitality by
Mrs. G. C. Mayson and others
that it will be indelibly inscribed
upon our memories and we will
refer to it in the future with
pride.
The bride was one of Gieen
