Within less than a week alter the dealh of his devoted wife, Mr. Moses Harris also died at the home of his affectionate daughter, Mrs. John M. I. has been located in Edgefield t >ere has not been a day more thoroughly enjoyed, by.stu dent body and citizens alike, than was last Friday. In the forenoon the students enjoyed their annual picnic ou the campus. Tennis, croquet, promenades, tete-a-tetes and all manner of games were en gaged in. Sevpral barrels of ice lemonade and othei delightful re freshments weie served. When the dinner hour arrived all repaired to the long table that had been plac ed in the ?hade near the branch and partook of the ro} al feast that had been prepared in such great variety and abundance. After all were satisfied enough was left to have fed as many more. In the aft?moon from four to six the people of the town were invited to witness the field's day exercises and athletic ccntesrs. We have never Been an occasiou more thoroughly enjoyed than was this one. Students are having their bodies dpveloped along with their minds. We regret that we have not the space to write of these athletic sports more at length. Letter to R. H. Muns. Dear Sir: You ask how many equare feet a gallon will cover. De penda ou condition of building. There is a great deal of lying on this point. The stock claim of ly ing paint9 is 300 square feet, two coats. It's a lie, as a rule. Devoe covers 300 to 500, our agents think. We think 300 too low and 500 too high; though doubtless, they both occur. How much the other paints cover is equally doubtful ; we guess 100 to 400. The truth is found in anolher comparison. Devoe is all paint, true paint, strong paint, aud full measure ; the others in general are, at best, diluted, adulterated and short-measure. They cover accord ing to body and measure. You can't paint with clay lime chalk sand barytes water or air-no body in them. Go by D?V?V. Yours truly, P. W. DEVOIC. 6 New Y. c.
