Ol Sunday afternoon next there

Rev. John Lake, a reunion of those
who formerly composed the. Young
Men's Christian Associations of
Edgefield county. At two o'clock

church; at three o'clock a men's
meeting will be held in the Pres
byterian church and at four o'clock
there will bea mass meeting at
the Baptist church, to which the
ladies and public generally are
cordially invited. Those who were

tions over the county are invited
and earneetly requested to attend.
At the mass meeting Sunday after
noon certain hrethren will be ap
pointed to serve on the county ex
ecutive committee in order to
maintain the old organization.
Rev. John Lake bas a number of
.valuable books and historical re
cords that he prizes very highly
and before sailing for China in the
early summer he desires to present
these to the Edgefield county com
mittee,* from which bas sprung the
now world-wide movement of coun
ty Y. M'.'C. A. work; Be-sure do

being unable to await his arrival
to extend their best wishes and

Dispensary Sales for 1903.
Without any advertising or any
personal effort on the part of the
dispenser, euch as is put forth by
the venders of other articles of
merchandise, the local dispensary
sold nearly $35,000 worth of liquor

The net profit for the year
amounted to $4900,43, half of j
which was paid to the county
treasurer and the other half to the
town. The state's profit is added
in Columbia when the whiskey is
billed to the county dispensary.
Bacon-Fat and Lean.
The Edgefield Mercantile Com
pany haB enough bacon-dry salt
sides-on hand for every mau,
woman and child in the county to
have a rib. This mammoth con
cern received on Saturday last
what waB probably the first solid
car of bacon '.hat was ever shipped
to Edgefield direct from the west.
They have had a large specially"
constructed box or vault made in
the cellar which preserves the meat
almost as well as if it were in cold,
storage. However, it will not be
stored there long. It is already
going and Bpou another car will
ake its place.
