Death of Aa Aged Citizen
After a lingering illness, lasting
through many months, Mr. L. H.
McCullough died at his home in
Trenton on Tuesday night of last
week. His earthly ., pilgrimage
lasted for more than three score
years,during whieh time he fought
a good fight, kept the faith'and bas
gone home to receive'.the reward
that is prepared for those who die
trustiug in the Savior of the world.
During his early life he was a pra
ctical printer and served on the
ADVERTISER force for 15 or 30years
while Mr. D. R. Durisoe was editor
and proprietor. Later he engaged
in merchandising which he success
fully conducted till his last illness.
Mrs. Elizabeth Russell of our town
is a sister of the deceased. Mr.
McCullough is survived by a wife
and two daughteis. For many
years he had been a member of the
Methodist cburoh and member of
the Knights of Honor. The in
termeut took place in Ebenezer
cemetery on Wednesday afternoon,
Rev. Geo. W. Davis officiating.

men who were to become soldier
boys met on Thursday night last
to organize or reorganize (but in
fact disorganized) the Edgefield
Rifles. It was evident, so those
present state, that there were two
factions, both detei uinod to eleot
their man or men though the
beavens fell. S. M. Smith, Esq.
was elected chairman, Messrs.
Wallace Sheppard and John R.
Tompkins were nominated for cap
tain, resulting in 23 votes for
Sheppard and 22 for Tompkins.
Mr. Arthur Collett was unani
mously elected first lieutenant and J
M. P. Wells, Esq., was chosen sec
ond lieutenant. Owing to the dis- j
cord that has arisen it is reported
