We are requested to announce that the Ladies' Mission society of the Methodist church will meet at the church Thursday afternoon. Mrs. James H. Tillman, after a stav of several weeks at Harris Spring and with relatives and friends at Spartanburg, returnee on Friday lust. Our town has five cotton buyers and five seed buyers who are always in tho market giving the highest prices and honest weights. What more could be usked? Edgefield thus far has been and will continue to be throughout the 6easou one of the leading cotton seed markets in the state. The highest price reached so far bas been 31 cents per bushel. One of the leading farmers with in a radius of four miles of Edge field sold last week the seed from 7 bales nf cotton receiving for them over $77,00 or more than 11 00 per bale for the seed. Where is another seed market that can equal such a figure? Mr. D. B. Hollingsworth was th** ouly attendant from Edgefield county at the farmers institute which was heM several weeks ago at Clemson college. When one hears Mr. Hollingsworth speak of both the pleasure and profit he derived from the institute he thereupon re eolves to attend next year. . The Rev. Dr. L. R. Gwaltney arrived iu Edgefield on Monday for a visit, which is, alas ! too short. Today and tomorrow hoj is in at tendance upon the Baptist, assoc iation and will fill the pulpit of our Baptist church on Sunday next. Furse, who for several months has been emp'oyed by the Southern as agent at Lena, Hamp ton county, spent several days with his family last week, returning on Moudny.
