Arthur S. Tompkins Esq., is level
headed on the subject of eschewing
greasy food, especially in the summer
season. He says, "any man that will
eat cheese and fat hog meat in August
would lose all of his religion in a
week." Brother Tompkins does'nt
speak from his own experience in this
matter, but from the experience of
others. He also says that "many a
man. whose death has been ascribed to
the inscrutable dispensation of an all
wise Providence, could more properly
attribute his taking off to grease, al
though he would'nt be here himself to
prove it "

whet, we set out to effect a settle
ment between L D. White and L.
J. Williams that it would become
necessary for us to appear ip print
in vindication of ourselves. We
thought we had their differences
settled for all time to come, for it
was our understanding that neither
of them should attempt to explain
the matter when asked, but just
tell those who would mention it
that it been settled.
Mr. Williams errs in sayi?g that
uas Mr. White had committed the
first wrong he should first explain,
then I should withdraw my charges
and leave it as if they had not been
writteji." It was a mutual settle
ment with no conditions other than
have already been published by us.
We still beljeve and feel that they
are uuder obligations to us to abide
by the settlement as we under
stand it.
