returns for twenty-two years to
{overwhelm Tillman and his fol
lowers with: confusion, it was a
thunderbolt hurled by a mighty

The State seeks to show, in fact

raised the taxes in the State in
stead of giving retrenchment ai
I promised. Now had our esteemed
[contemporary been as wise as he
fancied, he would have left that
table out, since it shows that the

Tillman administration in '90>'91,
although reducing the tax levy
! from 5? mills to 4| mills raised
nearly $9,000 more than was raised
the year before.
The taxpayers have been saved
nearly ten cents on every dollar of
taxes paid, and yet the State re
ceives $9,000 clear!
