"Wednesday, the 4th inst., at the home
of her son, Dr. EoVard Mims, at John
ston-aged eighty-four y>arsand a few
months. Mrs. Minis, whose family name
was Tatt, was thejrelict of the late Mat
thew Mims, a prominent citizen of Edge
field throughontIds life; and she had
lived for many years a widow. She was
also a sister of th|fc shining Christian so
loved among us tui former days-Miss
Polly Tutt. The fleath of this lady, who
had lived until sie became an epitome
of tho history of|Edg?field, is naturally
a notable and a fed event among us
stirring up all th? holier feelings of our
hearts, and makbg us think of better
p-tirnos and better rpeopl e. On Thursday
\last, in the presence of a weeping com
munity, her remains were laid by the
side of her husband's, in the family bury
ing ground, at the old Tutt place, across
the Beaver Dam. About this death and
burial there waa. a saddening yat inter
esting memory of tho long, long past.
Never perhaps has a life exhibited
througha changefuland checkered course
so changeless achazacter of piety, un
selfishness, gentlen3ssand affection, as
that of the honored wornan whose death
