The Distinctive Feature of the Stuck system of Life Insurance, as oppos ed to the Mutual, is a low rate, pf premium for a stated sum insured, which is IMMEDIATE, SECURED and CERTAIN ; in lieu of a high rate of premium with a promised dividend, which is DISTANT, CON TING EN T and UNCERTAIN ; this so called dividend being morely a return of a portion of the exces sive and unnecessary premium charged in the first instance. Illustration. Suppose that an individual aged thirty desires to devote $200 a year for the purpose of effecting an insurance on his life; this amount will imme diately secure him in the UNIVERSAL the sum of $11,751, payable on his decease. This Bum, paid to a company charging the ordinary mntual rates, would secure him the sum ef $8,474-different* immediately secured, in favor of the UNIVERSAL, $3,277. To illustrate the importance to the policy hol der of low premiums in more general terms, it may be statod that by a reduction of twenty-five per cent, in tho rate of premium, the same amount of money will SOQUTO a policy thirty-three and one third per coat greater, and likowise that a reduc tion of twenty-five per cent, in the rate of premium is precisely equivalent to an annual cath dividend of thirty-three and one-third percent, payable in advance, or to a dividend of forty-five per cent. payable at tho end of five j oars. By the Stock plan the fall cath effect of tho ? premium is immediately secured to tho insured, he Company taking all the risk. By tho Mumal lan the full value in insuranco of tho premium aid is not secured to the policy holder, who takes portion of the risk himself. The Premiums charged by tho UNIVERSAL are as low as the ac tual exporionco of insured lifo in this country will justify, and on the ordinary Life and Ten Year Non-forfeiture policies are NEARLY ONE THIRD LOWER than those charged by the ma jority of Mutual Companies. Special attontion is asked to our "Return Pre mium Plan," by which the amount of the policy is secured simply by tho temporary deposit of the annual premium?, which are returned in full, to gether with the amount assured, to the holder of policy when it shall become a claim upon the Company.
