has prevailed among the people to-day, in autici
pation of important results at Yorktown, Acquia
Creek, and Manassas.
Nothing, however, has been devolved as yet.
The departments have no intelligence from any of
these or other points.
The large aumber of vessels in Hampton Roads
is supposed to be caused measurely by vessels
seeking that haven from severe storms on the
coast.
The general opinion here is that we are on the
eve of important events.
