of a public execution of eighteen insurgents at
Ahmedabad, October 2':
Ten of them mountel to their places on the
drop; a firing party of twelve moved' up to
within twenty' yards of the place where I stood,
facing;outwards, as the guns did, but behind
them, further back into the square. The men
who were to be shot were placed in front, not
more than twelve paces from the.muzzle of the
