IN obedience to the. resolutions of the General Assembly, the Commissioner of the New State House invites proposals for FURNISIIING AND DRESSING THE STONE FOR TIIE BASE MENT STORY OF TIIE NEW STATE HOUSE, according to the annexed list of stones and specifi cations or dressing, &c. . Bids will be received for THE ROUGH STONE DELIVERED IN TIE YARD and TIE DRESSING, either separately or jointly. C. 1. Masonry of Foundation. Piers for the Porticos. This part of.the work consists of the two upper courses of the portico foundations, containing alto gether 233 stones, of such dimensions as shown in the annexed list ; the stone for it to be sound gran ite, free of sap and Eeams, to be worked to the re quired dimeuzions, pin-hammere I on their inside joints, beds and builds, and pointed off sguare on their outer faces. The bids for this work to be made per perch of 25 eubie feet, for foundation piers of portico. 2. Finished Granite Work for the Basement. The whole of the exterior facing, piers and cor nices of basement, consists, as per annexed list, if 1,658 stores, arianged in headers and stretchers, and of such finished dimensions as thereby shown i said list. Aho for the interior, 2 square piers. 3-2 Dorie fluted columns. (if 24 inclits dianeter at te base, and 34 Dor:c caps for the same; all of which must be worked fine and true, as per draw ings and details, in the best manner. The.exterior fing-, or ash.lar of the baseient, must he worked (for the u inL-s of the building and the sides of the porti.os) with tine cut beveled, or rustic joints, and one inch fine cut margin artound the face of eali stutnt; -th reiimainder of the face to he with inclined rust:c striping, as per sanples on the yard. All the facing under the porticos to be cut fine, with flush jlints, in the best mninn'r, as well as the reveals, or returns, to all the windows and doors, as per sample 'in thies nl.
