Huntwas called to the Chair, and Mark Glen, of the Bel.: 'fast Troop, appointed Secretary. Tbe Chair explained the object of the-meetine Wa'fo wisrds, to be their unqualified approval Sof.on.-Pi S. Brooks's course in the late Sum ner affair. Major Whit.. Walker then introduced the fol lowing resolutions, which were unanimously adopted, to wit: Resolvae 1. That we approve the Congres sional career of our Representative in Congress, the Hon. P. S. Brooks, and especially endorse hia conduct in ohastisink Senator- Sumner for his foul aspersion of South Carolina and her Senator. - .2. That this Squadron present him with a sabre, having a suitable inscription. 3.- That we .henitily respond to the proposi tion of the '96 meeting, to give a public dinner at the old '96 Fort. 4. That a general committee be appointed to correspond with the '96 committee, and to carry into effect the foregoing resolutions. 5. That we recommend to each Company of this Squadron to appoint a committee of five to raise funds for the dinner, and to report to the general committee. The following resolution offered by Capt. G. H. Werts, was also unanimously adopted: - Resolved, That the people of this district- be requested to unite in giving the complimentary dinner to Col. Brooks.. The following.gentlemen wee appointe d on the committee: Maj. W. Walker, Maj. Gen. Williams, Gen. Hunt, Gen. Kihard, Col. Crosson, Dlaj. Hunt, Maj. Glen, W. W. Houseal, Captains D. C. Da vis, L B. Maffett, John Peoples, G. H. Werts, S. Pope. On moti5n of Capt. Peoples, the papers in the 4th Congressional Distriot were requested to noticeAhese proceedings, and that a copy be sent to Hon. P. S.
