P3nrITrVE AND MODERN COURTSHIP.
PRIMITIVE.
"Now, Peggy, I've a heart that's bold,
A bosom free from care,
And if we only Uant aree,
As I love you, so you love me,
We'll Imake a happy pair.
There's nerve enough in this strong arm,
My:i rate ne'er make it less
Now I:1n thine, will you be mine,
Coie, Peggy, answer, ' Yes.'
"I've cot, and barn, and cattle fair,
A pew at church beside,
And should life's journey prove full rough,
This leathern purse will hold cnoughi
Whatever may betide;
I have a nag, your own, my Peg,
Whene'er you ride to mill;
Since I am thine, will youJbe ine!ic ?
Come, Peggy, say you will."
" Well, Reuben, since your love is mine,
And vou are strong and bold,
Wluit could a maiden better do,
Than give her heart at onee to you,
With all its love untold ?
The spinin:ng wheel I'-re plied with care,
And tasked the busy loom,
And piles of white, tho' lionespun cloth,
Adorn the old north room.
"A lid, Reuben, you must not forget,
While merrily rings the bell,
'Tis God.up in the heavens above,
The God our honest parens love,
That dotli all things well ;
And while his lessing seals my vow,
I soleminly cAi'ess,
Since thou art inine, I will be thine,
And freely answer, ' Yes.'

Exquisite Angellna May,
Refulgent queen of night,
Permit thy victim here to kineel,
And from thire eves of azure steal
One ray of bessed light!
0, say shall sweet connubial bliss,
Angel of lice, be ours ?
And sl:all we dwell, like turtle doves,
In Cup:d's fairy bow rs ?
"Yet does thy proud papa look stern,
And call me bra'niess foil!
Ile dre.ins not that a 'adler, love,
Suspended froi the rooi above,
Could brave parental rule,
Tien grant ine, Angelina, dear,
The biss for which I sigh,
Nor leave thy tre:nling victim here
To pine, to sink, to die."
0. George Augustus Fitz Green Brown,
Your tit!e I admire,
For t!sis I brave the daily frown,

Of my indigmant s:rc ;
For this I m're, refuse to eat,
And faint: fuil twice a day,
That pa inay hear the neighibors cry,

I-IE WOULD'NT SARVE.-Several years
ago, at a- town meeting in a neighboring
town, an old fellow whom we shall call Mr.
Perkins, (because that was his name) was
iflormed by the moderator, "in open town
meeting," that he had been elected surveyor
of high ways. He arose and said:
31r. Moderator, I shall incline."
The Moderator expiessed at great satis
faction, and hoped that he would immedi.

soon as the roads were in a sad condition.
"I tell ye," rtsponded our hero, - that i

"Ves'y glad," continued the moderator,
and( I think I can assure you that the town

Perkins became exasperated, and jumping
up, bellowed out at the top of his voice.
" Mr. Moderator, I told ye twice that I

By notion of a wag presel, the town
proceeded to elect a surveyor, "in the place
of Mr. Perkins, inclined."

It is a remarkable fact, that among the hundreds of
eminent physicians who have examined the recipe by which
Bull's Sarsaparilla is prepared, not one las condemned
it. but all approved it, and -commend it in the highest
terms. Many physicians express themselves strongly in
the belief that it is decidedly the best preparation of Sar.
saparilla that has ever been placed before the public.
Although there are many physicians whc feel a reluctance
to having their names appended to the recommendation of
any particular remedy, notwithstanding they may approve
of it in the highest degree, there are others who frankly
yield their support in favor of a remedy which they know
Is capable of doing so much good in an nfflicted com
munity. As an evidence, read the following from old and
respectable ply.'-cians, of high standing in the community
in which they live:
TESTIMONY.
IC Testimony like the following renders superflous all
comments o: the efficacy of Bull's Sarsaparilla. From Dr.
L. P. Yandell, rrofessor of Chemstry in the Lnuisville
Medical College: I have looked over the list of ingredients
composing John Bull's Compound Extract of Sarsnparilla,
and have no hesitation In saying that they form a safe
compound, and one that promises well in chronic diseases,
to which it Is applicable. - L. P. YANDE LL, M..D.

I have examined the prescription for the preptration of
John Bull's Sarsaparilla, and 1 believe the conbination to
be an exellent one, and well calculated to produce an alter

have been indisposed with Acute Itaeumatisn abour. ix
months After having exhausted my skill in the treatment

your PLUID EXTACT OF 6ARBAPAILLA a fair trial, and
accordingly purchased a bottle of yourmedicine from your
agent, Mr. George P. Brown, about two weeks ago, and I -
must confess that one bottle has entirely cured nae.
It is mcy opinion, that your preparation of Sarsaparilla
is decidedly superior to any other preparation now in use,
and I will take great pleasure in recommending it to the
afflicted us being a remedial agent, and I will advise the
physicians to use It in their practice, &c,

I confidently recommend it to my friends as being a pvower.
